Will ebay charge your credit card if you dont or cant pay for an item?

I am new to ebay. I placed a bid (which i am winning) which I regret. I dont have the money to pay for the item.

Will ebay charge my credit card to make me pay for the item if I win?

no they wont do that, but you will get a non payers strike.
It would be better if you contacted the seller and explained your position, he may then allow you to retract your bid.

Please be sure to check out the tutorial on ebay about bidding and retracting bids. And do sellers a favor and don't bid if you don't have the money. Because it is a legal binding contract to purchase once you click confirm on your bid. Be a good ebayer! Or don't go on ebay at all!!

You can retract your bid at any time - it is not the seller's responsibility to cancel or help you cancel.

If you do not cancel your bid, you are LEGALLY obligated to pay for the item.

I suggest you go into your "my ebay" tab and follow the bid retraction steps. you will receive a negative for it, but it's better than the cops visiting you.

And believe me, I had someone TWICE try to bid and not pay, and the kind cops of Clearwater paid a visit and hence, he paid for the Laptop.

Fulfill your end of the bargain - cancel before deadbeating, and think twice before you bid next time.
