I am 18 years old. I have never owned a credit card in my life. I was denied a Target card today because I don't have credit. I had to make a $150 down payment on a new phone because I don't have a credit score.

How do I improve my credit score? I really don't want to own a credit card, and I would like to only use it for things like gas and only use it sparingly. Is my credit currently BAD? or is it 0? Is this fixable?

They loan you 2500.00 and put it in a savings account. (this money is then frozen) They then charge you like 4% and make you pay it off over a certain amount of time, (6 - 12 months) Once it is paid off, they unfreeze the account and you have 2500 in a savings account.
