I have bad credit, will I ever be able to buy a house someday?

I am 26 years old and I made some bad choices with my credit when I was younger. I have been working on my credit and paying my bills on time. I just want to know how long does it take to re-build your credit? I would like someday to purchase a condo or house but can't right now because my credit is not that great...with hard work will my credit score go up so someday I can purchase my own place? How long does this process take? a year, 3 yrs, 5 yrs??!?!
