How to resolve bad credit that was made through company errors?

So, the debt collectors think my husband is dead, and i guess from answers from my last question, that is really going to hurt my credit since the letter was in reference to me being his personal representative. since he's dead and all, they want his all his credit card debt paid NOW, and by me... great huh? after this whole situation is resolved i will have a plummet on my credit score and i don't have enough money to talk to a lawyer about erasing that. any help here?

You need to get your credit reports from all three agencies (Experian, TransUnion, and Equifax, or whatever they call themselves these days) and dispute these items. The burden of proof is then on the reporting creditor, and if they do nothing, it disappears automatically. You can also, without disputing, tell them you need an explanation of an item on your report. The whole banking industry is a racket, and any company that lends any credibility to the scams they pull is equally scum, so don't have any qualms about sticking it to them to the little extent you can.

Was the debt incurred while you were married? If not then call the creditor and explain it to them and flat out refuse to acknowledge it as your debt. Then ask the credit agencies to remove such information from your file as you do not owe them money, because you were not the one who incurred the debt and you were not with your husband at that time.

If the debt was incurred while you were married, then in most cases you can be held liable. Most state have joint asset and joint liability "community property" type laws where either one of the spouse is responsible even if its an individual account.

Hope that Helps.

My mom used a service in Texas at www.aperfectsolution.us It cost her $125 but they cleaned up her credit and got her a 60 point boost in the process. It takes 3 minutes to signup online.......use promo "TDS". Good luck.
